Watch from their point of view as the M-Sport service engineers get to work on Teemu Suninen’s rally car in the service park at the World Rally Championship stop in Spain where they swap out the gravel running gear for tarmac. #WRC#rallying#msport
Best part of past 10 years, from way back in 2009, I started writing
reports on Women in Motorsport. In fact it was NZ’s very own Courtney Duncan
racing 2009 FIM Junior World MX Championship in Taupo, NZ which pushed
all the right buttons to carve niche market for Women in Motorsport on
various Media platforms.

And, man has it developed to such pleasing place, that even I, who is
oh-so-demanding-for delivering results, hits over 1 million this year
could not be more satisfying. Not just the views, but attracting 3K new
viewers each month, along with expanding audience reach to around the
globe has been especially rewarding. 10 years back- no-one wrote on
Women in Motorsport.
And actually filming Women pre-during and post racing has opened up
windows of opportunities to tap into riders, racers and drivers
professional and personal happenings privy to fans and mainstream
audience.
Key to all Media work produced has been selection on Women who share
their experiences telling it like it is- no-holds-barred, no superficial
take on what goes down- fronting when plans go cool as and when they
don’t. Content produced is in real-time, never re-hashed/re-worked
making stories of each individual true to their values as a person.
And technology plays big part in what can be achieved. Making waves
on breaking down traditional barriers to gain air-time on TV Networks in
NZ, Media work has eclipsed competitors using tech to utmost advantage
in delivering content in-spec-on-time and to demand.
Filming in person is always best option, not necessarily the
cheapest. Video call is close behind, with 5G rolling out will become
new norm. Audio call recordings are invaluable with likes of oh-so-busy

Women Championship winner Belen Garcia winning Title to FIA Motorsport Games GT Cup driver Christina Nielson– fitting in Media interview while moving from USA back to Denmark.

For 2020, push is more like shove to deliver content on Women
competing in varying Motorsport disciplines around the world. Niche
market has certainly been established with 2019 year pivotal for tapping
into breadth of Women racing following disciplines: Motocross, SuperX,
Arenacross, GNCC-WXC, World Rally, SBK, F4, F3-WSeries, Touring Cup, GT
Cup, Stage Rally and Karting Slalom.
Shout out to all Women who have supported work to develop, raise and
expand profile of Women in Motorsport. Shout out to all supporters who
have remained true to their own values on meeting demands to help
establish platform. Shout out to my camera guy- James Bennell, who without filming of Women in sport wouldn’t have reached heights it has.
And, here’s to exciting new decade ahead, where who knows where Women
in Motorsport will place amongst highest level of sports ceiling in
front of fans and mainstream audience world-wide.
