Superpipe: Great Conditions!
Prime snow conditions and plenty of sunshine: in the superpipe at
Kitzsteinhorn, the international halfpipe top stars on snowboard and
skis find the ideal setting to prepare themselves for the winter season.
Teams from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Spain and the
Netherlands, from Japan and China as well as Australia, New Zealand,
Canada and the USA have gathered at Kitzsteinhorn to practice their
tricks in the perfectly formed superpipe. Alli Zehetner, who also built
the halfpipe for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, and his crew have shaped
a 150-metre long and 6.5-metre high pipe that is as safe as it allows
the riders to do huge jumps.

Trainingsweeks include Olympic bronze medallist Scotty James (AUS),

Glacier Park: Loads of Action at the “Skatepark of Snow”!
Since the beginning of October 2019 and until January 2020, freeskiers
and snowboarders can rip the creative set-up of the Glacier Park on the
glacier plateau. Kicker Line, Easy Line and Jib Line are ideal for
refining your skills or just having fun! Head shaper Martin Liebmann and
his experienced team vouch for the world-class quality of the
“Skatepark of Snow” and are already planning a second snow park: The
Easy Park will open in December. Central Park will follow in January,
South Central Park in February 2020. Additionally, the new Maisi Park at
Maiskogel will complement the extensive offer in Kaprun from December
2019 with a Rail Line and a Fun Line, which will serve young riders as
perfect preparation for the larger snow parks at Kitzsteinhorn.
K-ONNECTED: Kaprun – Maiskogel – Kitzsteinhorn On November 30th,
2019, the time has finally come when the 3K K-onnection, Salzburg’s
first tri-cable gondola and the heart of the K-ONNECTION, opens. From
then on, the centre of Kaprun, the Maiskogel Family Mountain and the
Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski area with its 100-percent snow guarantee will
be linked to form a single unit. From the 2019/20 winter season, Kaprun
will be offering ski-in-ski-out to and from the glacier for the first
time. The superlative 12-kilometre-long cable car line opens up unique
panoramic views of Austria’s highest peaks and, with 2,261 metres,
overcomes the highest difference in altitude in the Eastern Alps. In
addition, two EXPLORER gondolas offer a winter discovery tour of a
special kind. At the opening, the new cable car connection will be
staged with spectacular illumination.
GoPro for a Cause and Kindhumans teams up with the non-profit High Fives Foundation to tell the inspiring story of adaptive skiers Roy Tuscany and Trevor Kennison.
The High Fives Foundation is not slowing down anytime soon; and neither are Roy or Trevor for that matter. The Foundation continues to grow, hosting adaptive camps, helping and mentoring athletes nationwide with recovery and educating the youth. Meanwhile, Trevor keeps pushing boundaries for what is possible in a sit-ski and is training for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
These two prove that even though “spinal injuries suck,” the beauty is in the attitude.
Norwegian opens FIS World Cup slalom campaign with win as Yule third.
Henrik Kristoffersen got off to the best start possible with a dramatic Levi victory in a new era for alpine slalom skiing after legend Marcel Hirscher retired at the end of the last season. Here is all you need to know:
– Austrian Hirscher had won six out of the last seven FIS World Cup slalom titles with Kristoffersen the only skier to get the better of him thanks to his 2015/16 title win.
– New French star Clement Noel came out strong during the first run in Finland to lead from British slalom expert Dave Ryding with Norwegian Kristoffersen in fourth.
– The second run, however, was a different matter as skiers further down the field like Kristoffer Jakobsen took advantage of good conditions to post top times.
– Swiss Daniel Yule charged down to set the time to beat, only for Kristoffersen to better it with another Swiss Ramon Zenhaeusern settling in behind Yule.
– Ryding was on track to score the best time second to last, but crashed out as Noel made a mistake in the steepest part to leave him 0.09s behind Kristoffersen.
– It was Kristoffersen’s 19th FIS World Cup win with 16 in slalom as this season’s giant slalom race winner Alexis Pinturault failed to qualify for the second run.
– Kristoffersen, 25, leads the overall FIS World Cup standings now by 13 points from Pinturault with compatriots Noel and Mathieu Faivre locked in third.
– The next men’s FIS World Cup event will be the Lake Louise downhill on November 30.
