Spitfire display set for MCE British Superbike season finale at Brands Hatch

The iconic sound of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine will ring out above the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on Sunday 18 October as the legendary Spitfire is scheduled to perform a display at the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season finale. The Spitfire is regarded as the most iconic aircraft in British history, its groundbreaking design and specifications handing the British a decisive advantage in World War Two’s Battle of Britain, which recognised its 75th anniversary this year. The Battle of Britain was waged over the skies of southern England and next weekend (16-18 October) the Kent circuit will see a different kind of fight for supremacy on the race track as the MCE British Superbike Championship will be decided. The display by the Spitfire, owned and operated by Aero Legends, is scheduled to take place in the build up to the first MCE BSB race of the day on Sunday. Australia’s Josh Brookes leads the championship chase ahead of home hero and defending champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne, and one of them will seal the title in front of a capacity crowd. The MCE BSB season finale gets underway on Friday (16 October) with free practice ahead of the Datatag Qualifying session and first MCE BSB race of the weekend on Saturday (17 October). The Main Raceday gets underway on Sunday (18 October) with the final two MCE BSB races and a further five support races before the champions are crowned and the spectators are invited onto the track to enjoy the end of season celebrations.
