Joe Collier, racing on the Haribo Starmix Triumph had a varied weekend at round seven of the Motorpoint British Supersport Evo Championship. He struggled in race one and could only gain a fourth place and he managed to make amends on Sunday with a hard fought race win.

Joe struggled throughout the weekend on the tough Thruxton Circuit and placed his lowest qualifying of the season as fifth fastest Supersport Evo rider. It was a tough opening race for him and for the first time this year in a completed race, Joe finished off the podium in fourth. He worked hard but there were eight bikes separated by one second at the end of the race.

In the second race Joe started from 16th place on the grid, he really struggled off the start and was down to sixth place in the Evo Championship after the first lap. Joe knew he had his work cut out, he was locked in a five bike battle throughout the race. He moved himself up to third and a podium position on lap nine and was Evo race leader on lap 11. He was dicing with Jamie Perrin for the win and on the final lap was able to make a move and make it stick for the win.

Joe Collier – “We’ve had a really tough weekend here and trying to find a good set-up has been really difficult. We seemed to struggle to find something that worked for us and it has been tough, we tried so many different things and I didn’t seem to be getting a good feeling with many of them. I knew the races would be close as Thruxton is known for its slip streaming and knew I would need to try and use that to my advantage at some point.

It really was a hard fought win in race two and I gave it everything I had, I had some big moments throughout the race but kept pushing on as really wanted a podium place. I know things will be much better when we get the Cadwell in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to leaving this one behind us. Thanks again to all my sponsors and everyone that has helped me throughout this weekend, my team have been fantastic.”
