Josh Daley had a dramatic weekend at Knockhill circuit in the Motorpoint British Supersport Evo Championship. The youngster was having a good first race but was unfortunate to crash out and he race two he had another big crash that knocked him out, thankfully no major damage except concussion and a broken bike.
Josh once again was riding well and had improved on his times from the Scottish circuit from last year and he managed to qualify 6th Evo and 15 on the main grid for the first Supersport race. He got a good start and was working through the pack but sadly crashed out on lap three when he ran wide and hit the wet grass crashing out.
For the second race he started from 18th on the grid and got a good start and was up to sixth Evo rider and was looking strong, he made a mistake on lap six which pushed him back to 11th. The safety car deployment helped him gain a place to 10th but he crashed out heavily on lap 17 knocking himself out and left with concussion.
Josh Daley – “It was a bad weekend for us at Knockhill, which all started from the race truck breaking down on the way to the circuit on Thursday. We struggled for set-up in free practice one and two but we seemed to make some good changes for qualifying and I managed to qualify in 15th place.
My sprint race was cut short after equalling my qualifying time on the first flying lap but I ran wide when I was battling for position in the opening laps and crashed onto the grass which was like a swamp after all the heavy rain and down I went.
I was 18th for the feature race on Sunday and got a good start, after gaining a few positions I hit a false neutral into the hairpin and I ran into the gravel. When the safety car came out it allowed me to catch up to the pack in front of me. In the lap after this when the race got re-started I set my fastest lap I’ve done around Knockhill but the lap after I lost the front at turn 7 and crashed heavily.
