After placing third at the Misano round of the FIM European Superstock 600 Championship on his Ninja ZX-6R, Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) took an unassailable 55-point lead with two rounds of the season still to go.
With five wins in the first five rounds in 2015 Razgatlioglu has matched immense pace with a steely determination to finish races at the front. He found the perfect partner in his Ninja ZX-6R, which has provided him with the ideal platform to move up to champion status in his short international career in the Superbike paddock.
He won the only Superstock 600 FIM European Championship race he competed in last season, again for the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team, and was in contention for a victory again today until he decided to take a safe podium in third place after a hectic race with his championship rivals.
The 18-year-old Toprak has experience in the MotoGP Rookies’ Cup, and is a protégé and compatriot of legendary Turkish WSS rider Kenan Sofuoglu, who leads the current WSS standings on his Puccetti Racing Kawasaki. This is the third year in a row Kawasaki and Puccetti have taken the top honours in the Stock 600 category.
Toprak Razgatlioglu: “I wanted to win the race today but the team and Kenan made me calm down, because this was a very important round for me and the team. I had to win the championship here. I am a little disappointed that I did not win the race but anyway I am happy because I have taken the title for the team.”
