Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) rode a strong qualifying session at Misano to start the FIM Supersport World Championship race on Sunday from second place on the grid, taking his desired front row start.

In dry conditions Sofuoglu and two other riders disputed pole position in the lone qualifying session at the 4.226km Italian circuit, with the Turkish competitor going second quickest with a lap time of 1’37.955.
Sofuoglu is now looking to score his fifth win of the year on Sunday to take an even greater championship lead than the 40 points he enjoys now into the next round, which will be held at Sepang in Malaysia, on August 2nd.
Christian Gamarino (Go Eleven Kawasaki) was the next best Kawasaki qualifier, in ninth place for a third row start, while Marco Faccani (San Carlo Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) was 12th at his home round. Dominic Schmitter (Team Go Eleven Kawasaki) ended up 17th and will now start from the sixth row.
Kenan Sofuoglu: “Jules has a very special one lap pace but it is not a problem because if he does not do one special lap I am surprised, if he does do it, it is normal. Our pace is very strong on a used tyre and I am happy for this. Probably there will be a good fight in tomorrow’s race and I am ready for that fight, and to challenge for 25 points. It does not matter to me if it is raining or dry – and rain is possible – but definitely no problem either way. Now the track has been resurfaced there are not so many bumps here at Misano and for that reason it is nice. I cannot claim that it is a favourite track for me or my bike but still we are second and still we are fast so that is a good thing.”
