NAGS HEAD, North Carolina/ USA (Friday, September 1, 2017) – Finals day a the World Surf League (WSL) WRV Outer Banks Pro Men’s Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000 presented by Pacifico is ON. An international field remains with three countries well represented after yesterday’s dream day to contest for the 2017 win. Event organizers got competition underway after the forecast showed today’s conditions to be the best in the remaining window.
“Yesterday was one of the best days in competition history for us and today still looks really fun so we’re on for finals day,” Robbins said. “We’ll start with the Quarterfinals and work our way through until we have an event champion. It should be another great day of action to round off everything and best of luck to our final eight.” An all-East Coast affair opens Quarterfinal Heat 1 with yesterday’s standouts Tommy Coleman (USA) and Gabriel Morvil (USA). Quarterfinal Heat 2 features two of the event’s heavy-hitters with Tomas King (CRI), who has the only Perfect 10 (out of a possible 10) in his account, taking on an in-form Gabriel Farias (BRA). A stacked Quarterfinal 3 heat awaits as Dustin Richardson (USA) will do battle with North Carolina natives Stevie Pittman (USA). Finally, Aussie Chris Michalak (AUS), who earned a near-perfect heat total of 19.36 (out of a possible 20), faces off against Argentinian threat Facundo Arreyes (ARG).
