Sunday, September 6, 2015 — 24MX Honda’s Filip Bengtsson rode to an impressive double moto win at the final round of the Swedish motocross cchampionship in Uddevalla yesterday. Although he didn’t compete in the full series Fillibang confirmed his status as Sweden’s best MX rider.

With only the 40 best riders in each class invited the race format for the SM final was slightly different. After the morning’s free practice session riders went to the start gate in the order of the championship standings.  Bengtsson claimed the holeshot in moto one and led every single lap. He won the race with a four second gap over Rasmus Sjöberg. Another holeshot and start-to-finish victory in the second moto underlined Filip’s dominance. This time the 24-year old rider from Sankt-Olof crossed the line with a comfortable 14 second lead over Filip Thuresson.

Uddevalla brought Bengtsson moto tally at home to 7 although he missed three races in his domestic series. Jesper Jönsson was crowned Swedish MX1 champ ahead of Rasmus Sjöberg and Filip Thuresson. SVEM0, the Swedish motorcycle federation, also presented the trio that will defend Sweden at the upcoming Monster Energy MX of Nations. In Ernée Filip Bengtsson will be joined by Alvin Östlund and Jesper Jönsson. Last year Team Sweden finished 11th at the MXON.

Filip Bengtsson: “My starts were great and my riding was good as well so I’m stoked to be claiming another double race win. Especially in the second race I felt comfortable out there with a strong pace without having too push too hard. I’d like to dedicate this win to the family of Edward Blom, Edward was a dear friend who passed away on Friday. I will not race in the overseas  so that gives me some more time to prepare for the MX of Nations at the end of the month.”
