Gerno di Lesmo (Italy), 31st March 2015 Movistar Yamaha MotoGP‘s Valentino Rossi will make his Goodwood Festival of Speed debut on June 28th to celebrate Yamaha Motor Company‘s 60th anniversary. The nine-time World Champion will race at the Dutch TT Assen on Saturday the 27th of June before flying to the UK to attend the event, where he will be joined by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd Executive Vice President, Takaaki Kimura. Rossi was a fan of the legendary festival before receiving an invitation from Goodwood Festival of Speed owner Lord March and looks forward to tackling the iconic Hillclimb on his Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP bike on the Sunday. The 1.16-mile Hillclimb is the event‘s main attraction thanks to its technically challenging course, which rises over 300ft, putting the skills of the world‘s best riders and drivers to the test. Race fans and motor enthusiasts will be delighted to see Rossi‘s name added to this year‘s line-up of famous past and present riders. This year‘s theme, ’Flat-Out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge‘, perfectly matches with the 36-year old Italian‘s relentless riding style and lies fully in line with Yamaha‘s 60 year‘s worth of racing DNA. Over the last six decennia, Yamaha has left a huge footprint on motorsports. Its drive to excite people with sheer pace and performance is not only reflected in the company‘s motto, “Revs Your Heart”, but also in its Kando philosophy, the Japanese concept of thrill experienced when coming across something of immense value. Lord March said: “It‘s terrific news that Valentino Rossi will be making his Festival of Speed debut this year. He‘s the most successful premier-class Grand Prix rider in history and will be an incredibly popular figure for the growing number of extremely passionate and knowledgeable motorcycle enthusiasts that join us every year at Goodwood.” |

SILVER MEDAL FOR ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING AT GNCC ROUND 3HUSQVARNA MAKES UP TWO-THIRDS OF THE XC1 PRO PODIUM AGAIN AT STEELE CREEK Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Josh Strang is on a silver streak as he claimed his third consecutive 2nd place finish of the 2015 GNCC season. Temperatures at a cool 50 degrees and a dry week in Morganton, NC provided for great race conditions and perfect dirt. The just over 11 mile long course was tacky and supplied some great traction but of course offered challenging terrain. Demanding up and down hill slopes that traversed the mountain sides provided enough challenge to make up for the absence of the usual tricky mud holes. The flag dropped for the start of the race and the 1st corner saw Strang in 3rd. In the 3rd corner another rider came together with Strang which caused him to fall. He remounted in dead last, 10 seconds behind the final XC1 Pro rider. From there he charged his way up to 6th by race mile 5.8 where he laid the bike down. He got right up but lost one spot. He was able to recover his position quickly and focused on the lead group from that point on. He slowly picked his way through the pack and by the end of lap 2 he was in a battle with two other riders, interchanging between 2nd, 3rd and 4th places. On lap 3 Strang moved himself into 2nd and caught within 25 seconds of the leader. Lap 4 called for a pit stop which allowed the 3rd and 4th place riders by him, but he soon was able to catch back up to them and reclaim his 2nd place stance. He pulled a 35 second gap and was able to maintain 2nd place to the finish. “Today was solid again, had a great start but came together with another rider up our first hill so I had to start from the back, it took a while to get towards the front and I used a lot of energy trying to get to the front and close to the leader. After my second gas stop I settled into 2nd and was unable to close anything more on the leader. The bike worked awesome and we will keep chipping away,” explained Strang. Teammate, Andrew DeLong, is focused on recovering for the National Enduro Championship Series. Husqvarna also claimed the third step on the podium in the XC1 Pro class with Thaddy Duvall finishing behind Strang. Rockstar Energy and Husqvarna backed Ryan Sipes finished the day 9th in the XC1 Pro class, just ahead of Canada’s Factory Husqvarna rider Tyler Medaglia. Fans could save up to 20 percent on King’s Lynn Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup tickets as Team Great Britain boss Alun Rossiter seeks another partisan home crowd to roar the Lions into the Final.
Supporters who book by April 30 could save up to 20 percent on standing tickets, with adults priced at £16 and OAPs and under-15s £11. Grandstand tickets cost £38 and a family standing ticket, admitting two adults and two under-15s, is £37.50.
The Brits tackle an Aussie team, likely to feature FIM Speedway Grand Prix stars Chris Holder, Troy Batchelor and Jason Doyle. They will also face a United States side, spearheaded by the legend that is reigning world champion Greg Hancock, with Latvia completing a stellar field.
Rossiter says the hoards of passionate British fans made all the difference as Team GB stunned Australia, the USA and Italy to reach the Monster Energy SWC Final last season, and he hopes they can create another magical atmosphere at the Adrian Flux Arena this summer.
He said: “Last year was a fantastic day and the supporters really got behind the team; they made the difference.
“If we’re honest, everybody thought Australia were going to just cruise through. But the British boys rose to the occasion. I’m convinced it was a lot to do with the fans.
“I can’t see why we couldn’t repeat our victory at King’s Lynn. With a partisan home crowd, we could all see last year what can be done.”
BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy said: “The Brits produced a sterling performance last year, but Mark Lemon and his Australian team will be determined to get some revenge and ensure their place in the Monster Energy SWC Final at Vojens on June 13.
“The Americans and Latvians will also have a big say in the outcome of this meeting. I’d expect Greg Hancock to be inspired, as he always is when he wears the Stars and Stripes. The Latvians have a talented side too and they will thrive on a superb King’s Lynn race track.
“The Monster Energy SWC is always a special week on the speedway calendar and this is an event not to be missed.”
King’s Lynn owner and co-promoter Keith ‘Buster’ Chapman said: “The Monster Energy SWC is always a real highlight on our racing calendar at the Adrian Flux Arena.
“We look forward to welcoming fans from across the UK and around the world to King’s Lynn. As ever, I’m sure they will create a fantastic atmosphere that can only inspire the riders to produce their very best.”
